“Trees are sanctuaries. Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth. They do not preach learning and precepts, they preach, undeterred by particulars, the ancient law of life” – Hermann Hesse
As a mini project I decided to photograph the trees in my back yard from non traditional angles in order to create a different perspective regarding the magnificent life forms which provide us with oxygen, purify and filter the air and produce fruit and food and vital habitats for many species.
Considering that deforestation accounts for roughly 15% of global Co2 emissions it is integral that we protect our trees and forests and don’t support illegal logging ventures. This is particularly important regarding old growth forests which have been storing excess carbon for several hundred years.
Remember to recycle paper and timber products and look out for sustainable forestry initiatives such as the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
