Yackandandah PDC Site Visit 1: Indigo Valley

Recently I started helping out on a Permaculture Design Course (PDC) held in Yackandandah, North East Victoria and run by Susan Hutson and Karen Van Huizen.

Yesterday was the first site visit of the course during which we toured Karen’s beautiful 50 acre farm in the Indigo Valley near Barnawartha which she and her family have been on for roughly the last 16 months.

Students aptly learnt about designing for disaster (there was minor flooding on the property), as well as client briefs, the role of elements in design, map reading, contouring and much more.

It was a learning centred, jam-packed day of permaculture goodness.

Here are some photos I took on the day.

A huge, huge thanks to Karen and her family for showcasing their wonderful property.
